The ensemble was founded in 2002 and has been performing as FS Lipovec since 2012. It was established by the Rovina civic association from Vranov nad Topľou – Čemerné. Through hard work the ensemble strives to win the attention of its audiences..
The ensemble regularly takes part in cultural and folk events at district and regional level. Several dancers have won top places in national dance competitions. More than 300 performances in Slovakia and abroad testify to its high artistic quality.
The ensemble regularly prepares full-length themed programmes. The latest, “Our Lady of Fátima, Our Mother”, was created for the 100th anniversary of the apparitions in Fátima. Lipovec has also staged many Christmas programmes and Stations of the Cross at Easter.
We also offer performances of various lengths for town and village celebrations. In smaller formats we perform at family celebrations and weddings, where we also offer the traditional bridal bonnet ceremony (čepčenie).
Our love of folklore led us to start this business – not just watching it, but living it. For many years we danced in a folk ensemble and took part in folklore festivals in Slovakia and abroad.
It was at such events that we noticed how ensembles differed not only in their dances but also in their costumes. The beauty and variety of Slovak folk dress fascinated us so much that we decided to make it ourselves. We founded our workshop in 1992, while still dancing in an ensemble, and since then we have sewn a great many costumes for folk ensembles and folk groups.
